<p><strong>Speaker bio</strong>: Sherman McCorkle is the Chairman, CEO, and co-founder of Sandia Science &amp; Technology Park Development Corporation. From 1993-2011 he was President and CEO of Technology Ventures Corporation. He served from 1988 &#8211; 1992 as the President and CEO of Sunwest Credit Services Corporation and from 1976 &#8211; 1988 as Senior Vice-President of Albuquerque National Bank.</p>
<p>A leader in the financial services industry, he was appointed by the American Bankers Association to the American Law Institute’s Select Committee on the Uniform Commercial Code of the United States. Mr. McCorkle is active in the Chief of Staff, USAF Civic Leader Program, the Air Force Material Command Civic Leader Program, and has served as Honorary Commander of four organizations on Kirtland Air Force Base.</p>
<p>Mr. McCorkle received the Albuquerque People’s Choice Favorite Community Leader Award in 1997, 1999 and 2000. Voted by his peers in 1999 and 2000 as the Most Influential Individual in New Mexico, Mr. McCorkle is the founder of the Kirtland Partnership Committee, the Technology Research Collaborative, and co-founder of Albuquerque Business Education Compact. He has served as chairman of the Governors Business Advisory Council, United Way of Central New Mexico, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, and Albuquerque Economic Development. Mr. McCorkle is the only New Mexican to serve on the Board of Trustees for the United Way of America. Mr. McCorkle is an Honors Graduate of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado.</p>

<p>Clean out your closet and donate to a good cause. During the December Lunches with Leaders and the Holiday Party, YPA will be collecting business attire to donate to <a href=" www.smhc-nm.org">St. Martin&#8217;s Hospitality Center</a> to be given to their Job Development Program participants as they get back into the workforce. We are hoping to collect business attire &#8211; this can be professional or business casual &#8211; including: suits, ties, socks, purses, make-up, hair ties, panty hose, hand bags, leather-folios, shoes &#8211; anything to be used in an interview or new job.</p>

<p><strong>Alternative Donation Location<br />
</strong>The YPA Holiday Party presenting sponsor Sheraton Uptown is partnering with the YPA on this effort. Business attire donations will be taken at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel (2600 Louisiana Blvd. N.E.) front desk from December 1-31, 2011. Each donor will receive a $10 food and/or beverages coupon to the Sheraton Uptown Lobby Lounge.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">About St. Martin’s Hospitality Center</span></strong></p>
<p>The mission ofSt. Martin’s Hospitality Center is to assist homeless and near-homeless people by providing resources, opportunities and HOPE. Many ofAlbuquerque’s homeless are on the streets because they lost their job. St. Martin’s provides job training, job placement, access to work clothes, identification documentation, and a phone number and address for applications. The Coffee Shop, located downtown (700 2nd St NW), serves as a job training site for St. Martin’s clients.
